Speaking in Tongues

  1. Why do the people in your church speak in tongues so loud?

The Lighthouse is a Spirit filled church and worshipping in the Spirit is encouraged. It is a normal Christian experience and is very Biblical.

    Acts 10:46

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. KJV

    Acts 2:4-6

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

    KJV

Water Baptism In the Name of Jesus Christ

  1. Why does your church baptise in the Name of Jesus Christ instead of Father, Son and Holy Ghost

The reason the Lighthouse baptizes in name of the Lord Jesus Christ instead of in the titles of Father, Son and Holy Ghost is because we are commanded to do so in the Bible.

    Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    KJV

    Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

    KJV

  2. Why then does Matt.28:19 say to baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost?

Father, Son and Holy Ghost are titles not names. I am a mother, and daughter, and a sister but my name is Lois. The scripture verse says to baptise in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost - What is that Name?

    That Name is Jesus!

Every baptism in the New testament Church was done in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Matt 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

    KJV

    Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    KJV

    Acts 8:16

16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

    KJV

    Acts 10:48

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

    KJV

Repentance

  1. What is repentance?

Repentance is an about face - a 180 degree turn -

you are going in one direction and turn and go in another.

Biblical repentance involves turning from sin (feeling sorrow for that sin and ceasing to participate in a sinfilled lifestyle) and turning unto God, and doing those things that please him.

Oneness of God

  1. Is the Oneness of God a "New Age" thing?

Absolutly not - long before the New Age movement there were Jews who quoted the Shema - Hear O' Israel the Lord our God is One.

The early church knew that Jesus Christ was and is Lord. We at the Lighthouse worship the Lord Jesus Christ and know him to be none other than LORD God Almighty come in the flesh!

  2. Does that mean you are "Jesus Only"?

No, the " Jesus Only" doctrine has always denied the humanitiy of Christ.

The Lighthouse believes the Jesus Christ is both perfect man and perfect God.

  3. So what is the difference between the Trinity and the Oneness?

The trinity declares that god is three separate devine persons who are co-equal, co-powerful and co-eternal and that those three persons are somehow mystically one.

This is a developed doctrine passed down from ancient paganism through Catholism and is a non-biblical doctrine.

The Lighthouse, as an Aposotolic Church trace our roots to the early Church which was and is both Jew and Gentile and therefore believes that God is ONE and that He has shown himself as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption and the Holy Ghost in regeration.(Father, Son and Holy Ghost being the titles of offices that He holds)

Coming to the church the first time

  1. What Do I Wear?

Please come as you are in your most comfortable clothing, something that won't make you feel self conscience.

  2. Do I HAVE to participate in the singing, giving or anything else?

Coming to the Lighthouse should be an enjoyable experience for you.

Please participate in any parts of the service that you would like.

All offerings are free will so please don't feel you have to give - the basket is at the front of the church on the altar for those who wish to give.

  3. Why do some people just stand up or get up and move around? Isn't that disrespectful?

The Lighthouse practices free worship - if a person is more comfortable walking or standing or kneeling they are encouraged to do so.

True Biblical worship is very demonstrative.
